The NYOTA is a plain toe Derby — open lacing, rounded toe, no decoration. The upper is one surface: smooth, high-gloss, hand-burnished full grain leather. No cap toe. No brogue. No seam that doesn't need to be there. The dark espresso brown is deep and rich. The all-black is mirror-polished and absolute.
Then the sole. Full navy blue rubber — fine parallel ribbed tread across the entire forefoot, dark leather heel shank with Barcon Getta script at centre. Cleaning
For surface dirt — a slightly damp cloth, no soap. For deeper marks — a small amount of saddle soap on a damp cloth, worked gently into the leather, wiped clean, then dried with a soft cloth.
Conditioning
Apply a natural leather conditioner — beeswax-based or lanolin-based — every 3 to 6 months. Use a soft cloth, work in small circular motions, allow to absorb for 30 minutes, then buff lightly.
Water
East African full grain leather is naturally water resistant. If the shoe gets wet — wipe dry immediately and allow to air dry away from direct heat. Do not use a hair dryer or place near a radiator.
Storage
Store with shoe trees when not in use. Keep away from direct sunlight for extended periods. Use the dust bag provided.
The Patina
The darkening and character that develops over months of wear is not wear — it is the leather responding to you. Condition regularly and it will continue to develop for years. No two pairs age identically. That is the point.
