MA’EDO Single Monk Strap Dress Shoes Prix de vente$169.99
East African full grain leather. Sourced directly by Barcon Getta. Not through a distributor. Not through a middleman.

The MAEDO is named for a small farming city in Eritrea — the birthplace of our father, and the root of our family on his side. This shoe carries that name because some places deserve to be remembered in more than one way.

The silhouette is a single monk strap with an apron toe. One strap. One gold square buckle. The apron toe seam runs clean across the vamp — the only line on the upper. No brogue. No medallion. No decoration. Just the leather, the seam, and the buckle.

Deep hand-burnished warm mocha brown. High-gloss. The colour is grounded and honest — the colour of good leather worn by a man who works. The sole is a burgundy oxblood leather forefoot shank with Barcon Getta script at centre, dark grey ribbed rubber tread, brass nail heel corners.

Cleaning

For surface dirt — a slightly damp cloth, no soap. For deeper marks — a small amount of saddle soap on a damp cloth, worked gently into the leather, wiped clean, then dried with a soft cloth.

Conditioning

Apply a natural leather conditioner — beeswax-based or lanolin-based — every 3 to 6 months. Use a soft cloth, work in small circular motions, allow to absorb for 30 minutes, then buff lightly.

Water

East African full grain leather is naturally water resistant. If the shoe gets wet — wipe dry immediately and allow to air dry away from direct heat. Do not use a hair dryer or place near a radiator.

Storage

Store with shoe trees when not in use. Keep away from direct sunlight for extended periods. Use the dust bag provided.

The Patina

The darkening and character that develops over months of wear is not wear — it is the leather responding to you. Condition regularly and it will continue to develop for years. No two pairs age identically. That is the point.
